A Broader Context for "Take These Meds"
Under Construction
This site will contain an interactive study packet to accompany the new DVD featuring visits by Deaf people to the Duluth Clinic- Hermantown. Created by Doug Bowen-Bailey and featuring Mike Swanoski as the pharmacist and Elee Vang, Connie Erickson, and Betty Hastings as the Deaf customers.

Mike Swanoski and Elee Vang discuss asthma medication
as Dawn Stevenson interprets.
Included on the DVD are the original interpretations created during filming. The interpreters are Dawn Stevenson, Doug Bowen-Bailey, and Kim Johnson. The will include their reflections on their work so that you can learn both from watching their work and from seeing what they think worked and what they might have done differently if they could do it again.
As well, the DVD offers a variety of ways to work with the material. Each scenario has a video track that pauses on the turns between speakers to allow for working consecutively, a track that shows the interpretation, and a track that runs continuously for working simultaneously. This unique method offers the opportunity to more fully delve into what it means to interpret an interaction, even if it is one that is captured on video.
In addition, this site will let you prepare for the assignments and gain a broader understanding of what goes into interpreting interactive situations that are focused on medicine.
Due out in August of 2005. Check this site for updates.
