Activity Packet for an Independent StudyWorking with this DVD and study packet can earn you up to 2.0 CEUs through the Independent Study option of RID's CMP/ACET program. If your goal is to earn CEUs, there are several steps to be completed prior to beginning your work.
1. Identify an Approved Sponsor Prior to starting your Independent Study, contact an RID approved sponsor and submit an Independent Study Plan. RID's website has a searchable database where you can find sponsors by geography and whether or not they handle independent studies. In general, a sponsor will charge a cost for the of processing an Independent Study. 2. Submitting an Independent Study Plan Once you have a sponsor picked out, you need to submit a plan of action and negotiate with the sponsor how you will document the amount of work you do and how much each hour will be worth in terms of CEUs. (For independent studies, there is not necessarily a 1 hour to .1 CEU ratio as it is for formal workshops.) The sample plan is included at the end of the Activity Packet in Appendix J. Note: You do not need to follow this plan. If you want to do something completely different to earn CEUs, you certainly can. The criticial piece is that you and the sponsor agree on what you are going to do and how you will document your work and learning. |
