Digiterp has independently produced a series of DVDs and CD-ROMs which are informed by current research in interpreter education and which provide innovative approaches to skill development. All of this in a user-friendly and affordable package.

Featuring Amy Williamson-Loga, a certified interpreter and native user of ASL, this CD has short parallel texts in ASL and English--allowing for wonderful opportunities for comparing ASL and English discourse as well as practicing interpreting in one language, and then being able to compare it to an original creation in that target language.

This CD has a series of ASL texts which are edited to allow for consecutive interpreting practice. Each narrative is show in its entirety, then in sections designed to be consecutively interepreted, and then again as a complete text with a link to a summary of the story. Perfect for students in interpreter education programs, and for interpreters who are working on their skills in going from ASL to English.

A New DVD: Shifting Gears

Designed specifically for people working in elementary settings, this CD contains a host of activities and strategies for teaching ASL to young children. It is specifically intended for situations where a deaf or hard of hearing student is mainstreamed, and it is a goal for them to have signing peers. Includes both a section for the teacher with curriculum and strategies for how to create your own activites and a student glossary which allows students to work independently on the computer to see vocabulary from different lessons.

This DVD has ASL texts from Roger Brown, Debbie Peterson, and Trudy Suggs. These texts are both in full speed and 80 % speed, and can be viewed in sections that encompass main ideas. This variety of formats allows for honing the skills required to recognize when Consecutive and Simultaneous formats are most effective, and how to move along the continuum between CI and SI. An independent study packet is available to integrate current interpreting research into your practice.

Views from the Voting Booth

This CD features a variety of perspectives from Deaf people on the importance of voting. Created as part of voter registration efforts in the fall of 2004, it is not specifically tied to any election, and is an excellent example of persuasive discourse in ASL.
